Over the past few months, cities saw their populations drastically decrease while apartment rental listings flooded the market. But it wasn’t the pandemic that prompted these changes rather the economic hardships faced and renter demographics in major American “gateway” cities. Despite these changes, occupancy rates still maintain in the low to mid 90% with rent adjustments. Sunbelt markets continue to hold up as shown in previous recessions.
